The inn sits in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania, along the historic Lincoln Highway corridor that runs east from Ligonier toward the ridges of the Allegheny Mountains. It is an easy drive from Pittsburgh, Johnstown and Greensburg, and a comfortable stop for travellers crossing the state.
Coming from the Pennsylvania Turnpike
Leave the turnpike at the Donegal interchange and follow the state route north through the farmland and hemlock woods of the Laurel Ridge. The road meets the Lincoln Highway a few minutes later; from there you continue east through Ligonier and into the string of villages that line the old highway.
Coming from the west
Follow the Lincoln Highway east through Greensburg and Latrobe. The route climbs steadily as it leaves the valley, passing orchards, antique shops and the entrance to the state park before reaching the village where the inn stands.
Coming from the north and east
From the Johnstown area, take the south-bound expressway to the Lincoln Highway and turn west; from Bedford and points east, stay on the Lincoln Highway as it crosses the summit. Both approaches bring you over the ridge with long views across the Highlands — the most scenic way to arrive.
Planning your drive
Allow about an hour and a half from Pittsburgh, and rather longer in winter, when the ridge roads can hold snow after the valleys have cleared. Fog is common in the hollows on autumn mornings.
